In our 1st annual SFU Student Entrepreneur of the Year competition in 2008, SEY discovered Milun Tesovic, founder of Metrolyrics, a music lyrics database that specializes in providing visitors with information on the latest news, songs and more. His website draws more than 45 million monthly visitors. He was the winner of the competition that year, going on to win the BC Student Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2009, as well as being crowned the Western ACE Regionals Student Entrepreneur Champion and the ACE Nationals Student Entrepreneur Champion. Recently, he was crowned the Global Student Entrepreneur of the Year in 2010.

MetroLeap Media Inc. is a provider of entertainment content within the music and video game Internet market. MetroLeap’s distribution widgets are gaining great acceptance in blogs and social networks like MySpace, Friendster, Nexopia, and Facebook. It is the 6th most influential website in the UK for the particular demographic it serves and reaches about 1 in every 10 Canadians monthly. Its flagship website, www.metrolyrics.com, is one of the most trafficked lyrics-dedicated websites worldwide, reaching over 28 million unique visitors monthly and is ranked in the top 10, only behind others such as music.aol.com, mtv.com, and Yahoo Music.

Solar Inx’s global business solution for both solar suppliers and buyers are not limited to e-commerce, but are expanded to a series of free services and premium solutions both online and offline. Solar Inx aims to promote the utilization of solar energy into our daily lives and as a result: provide a more sustainable lifestyle while reducing GHG emissions.

U-Connect

U-Connect connects organizations of all sizes with students for short and long term contract work. A business to business service, U-Connect achieves this purpose online through a recently beta-launched website where students and businesses can register for free. Thus far, they have connected approximately 7 students to project work. They anticipate building their network of students and businesses with the idea of garnering as much feedback on their system as possible. U-Connect provides a venue to connect the world’s untapped talent to opportunities.
