NETWORKING RECEPTION

On behalf of the Organizing Commitee, thank you for your interest in the 2011 SFU Student Entrepreneur of the Year Workshops, Speaker Series, Competition and Networking Reception! We have been planning these events tirelessly for the past 7 months to ensure that the events run smoothly, and we’re safe to say that we are very proud of the results that we have achieved. In total, there were over 400 individuals who participated in our event program. We hope you had a great time participating in our events.

With that said, there are many people to thank, starting with the Organizing Committee. I would personally like to thank my team of organizers; Kelvin Chen, Christina Dang, Hope Wang, Jos One, Raymond Lui, Chantelle Buffie & Ruben Ugarte for their incredible efforts and energy over the past 7 months. If it were not for them, this event would have never happened.

We would like to thank our speakers who helped out with our workshops; Kath Britton (Women’s Enterprise Centre), Rob Goehring (Contigo), Honor Morris (Kasian), Karen Milde (Reframe Marketing), Jillian Walker, Elizabeth Bowker (Blue Moon Management) and Graham Buksa (Rayne Longboards). You have definitely inspired many students to step up and start their own businesses. We hope to see you back next year for the 2012 SFU Student Entrepreneur of the Year program, as we plan on expanding it to incorporate even more opportunities to teach more students about the world of Entrepreneurship.

Next, we would like to thank all of our competitors, judges and speakers for participating in the 2011 SFU Student Entrepreneur of the Year Competition and Networking Reception. There are definitely a lot of people to name here, so without taking up too much space, you can find a list of the competitors HERE. Semi-Final Judges can be found HERE, and Final Round Judges can be found HERE. The Networking Reception speakers, Mark Wardell (Wardell Professional Development), George Moen (Blenz Coffee) and Ehsan Baloochy (SocialShopper); we would just like to thank them for sharing their stories.

Not only that, we would like to thank our volunteers who helped us out during the competition, including; Robin Liu, Ryan Tavakol, Ellana Moreno, Clair Lam, Graeme Buchan, Vanessa Lee, Elaine Vuong, Lynn Shinto, Kenny Wang, Rafaela Tam, Tadaaki Sun & Tu Vu.

Finally, we would like to thank our photographers, Stephanie Wiriahardja, Christine Liew, Raymond Liu, Linda Nguyen, Christian Bucad from Yumephoto for their help throughout the events, and website designer Stanley Lai for his efforts in creating the best looking website ever. We would also like to thank the SIFE Simon Fraser Executive Team for their ongoing support for the SFU SEY team throughout the 7 months.

Last but not least, we would like to thank YOU for attending the 2011 SFU Student Entrepreneur of the Year program. The reason SIFE Simon Fraser continues to organize this program is because of the continued interest from the students and from the community. You are what motivates us to organize this event year after year. We are volunteers ourselves and do not profit from this whatsoever. This complete program is organized through funding from sponsorship by our sponsors. All the money we make from this program goes back into the organization, which would then be used to fund our future community projects.

Our SPONSORS include Visa, Ernst & Young, Goal Holdings, Palagon, SFU Beedie School of Business, SFU Career Management Centre, Borden Ladner Gervais, Tio Networks Corp., Simon Fraser Student Society, Women’s Enterprise Centre, PM Search Partners, Business in Vancouver, Rockwell’s Grill & Bar, Global Payments, Kasian, Scotiabank, SocialShopper and many more.
